Dr. Mohamad Bahjat Haidar is a highly qualified medical professional with a strong background in Nuclear Medicine. He graduated from the Lebanese University in 1995 with an MD and obtained his training in Nuclear Medicine from the University Paris VII in France in 2000. He is also European Board certified in Nuclear Medicine and a member of the Royal College of Physicians.

Dr. Haidar’s academic and research experience spans over two decades, during which he held various fellowships and training positions in prestigious hospitals and universities across Europe. He joined the American University of Beirut (AUB) as an Assistant Professor in 2013 and has since moved up the academic ranks to become an Associate Professor. He is currently serving as the Assistant VP for Business, Faculty of Medicine at AUB.

Dr. Haidar has a wealth of experience in leadership positions, having served as the Director of Nuclear Medicine Division and Cyclotron Facility at AUB since 2014. He also founded and directs the sponsored Nuclear Medicine fellowship program at AUB, which is an advanced fellowship program in the region. In addition, he has served on several committees and task forces, including as Chairperson of the Radiation and Laser Safety Committee at AUBMC since July 2021.

Dr. Haidar has also been highly involved in national and international organizations, serving as President of the Lebanese Nuclear Medicine Society, Immediat Past President of the Arab Society of Nuclear Medicine, and Vice-president of the Asia Oceania Federation of Nuclear Medicine & Biology AOFNMB Chairman of AOCNMB. He is also an international expert for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Vienna and ARASIA representatives.

Dr. Haidar has authored and published numerous articles in international and national peer-reviewed journals, with a focus on the role of Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT in oncology and cancer management. He has also delivered talks and papers in national, regional, and international meetings and has received awards for his research work.
