Lavanga Wijekoon

Lavanga Wijekoon is an attorney and shareholder at Littler Mendelson, P.C., a global law firm specializing in employment law and a member of both the United States Council for International Business (USCIB) and International Organisation of Employers (IOE).  Born and raised in Sri Lanka, but now based in Chicago, USA, Lavanga advises businesses on international employment issues, with a focus on the Asia Pacific region. 

As a student, Lavanga studied child labor in Morocco and conducted field research in India and Nepal on children trafficked for sex.  Now, as an attorney, Lavanga advises domestic and transnational companies on compliance with child labor standards. 

Lavanga is also the co-chair of Littler’s Business & Human Rights practice group, and has represented global employer interests in negotiating and drafting a multilateral treaty on human rights issues at the United Nations.   

Lavanga received his Juris Doctor and Masters in International Studies from the University of Washington and has been recognized as “Ones to Watch, The Best Lawyers in America,” and “Stand Out Lawyer, Thomson Reuters.
