José Tulio Gonzalez Escamilla
President
José Tulio González Escamilla is a Guatemalan agricultural engineer and entrepreneur, a third-generation coffee grower and a staunch
promoter of human and social development in Guatemala.
Throughout his career, he has held leadership positions in the country’s main coffee sector institutions:
• He has been a member of the Board of Directors of the National Coffee Association (Anacafé) , actively participating in the definition of strategies to strengthen the sector.
• During the 2021/2022 harvest, he was elected by Guatemalan coffee producers as Vice-President of the Anacafé Board of Directors, and subsequently, in the 2022/2023 harvest, he assumed the Presidency of the Board of Directors. In these roles, he has demonstrated leadership committed to innovation, competitiveness and the international promotion of Guatemalan coffee, as well as to improving production conditions in the sector.
• Since 2021, he has been a member of the Board of Directors of Funcafé, a social entity in the coffee sector that promotes rural development programmes focused on education, health and food security in coffee-growing communities.
During the 2021–2022 period, he served as Vice-President of the Foundation, and since 2023 he has held the position of President, from which he has promoted initiatives and projects of strategic impact aimed at the comprehensive development of rural communities, with an emphasis on education and the promotion of the coffee sector as an engine of transformation for Guatemala.
