Kailash Satyarthi, Nobel Peace Laureate and founder of the Satyarthi Movement for Global Compassion, is one of the world’s most influential human rights leaders. For over five decades, he has dedicated his life to defending the freedom, dignity, and dreams of the world’s most vulnerable children.
Throughout his life, Mr. Satyarthi has championed the cause of the most marginalised, transforming moral conviction into large-scale, systemic change. His leadership has helped shape international norms, national legislation, and global movements committed to justice, equity, and human dignity.
Through his grassroots movement, Bachpan Bachao Andolan, he has rescued more than 138,000 children from slavery, trafficking, and exploitation, establishing global models for rehabilitation, education, and justice.
A pioneering voice on the world stage, Mr. Satyarthi led the historic Global March Against Child Labour, mobilising over 7 million peopleacross 103 countries, catalysing the adoption of ILO Convention 182, the only universally ratified convention in ILO history. His tireless advocacy shaped SDG Target 8.7, secured the Right to Education in India, and advanced ethical supply chains through GoodWeave International.
In 2024, he launched the Satyarthi Movement for Global Compassion (SMGC) — a powerful call to embed compassion in leadership, public policy, and everyday life. SMGC unites youth leaders, communities, and global leaders to build a more just, peaceful, and sustainable world.
A visionary thinker and social reformer, Mr. Satyarthi inspires generations with his belief that compassion is the most powerful force for transformation to achieve justice, equality, peace and sustainability for all.
