Manuel Clarote Lapão

Director of Cooperation

Born in 1970, he holds degrees in Science for Development and Cooperation and a Master’s in Social and Economic Development in Africa, as well as a postgraduate diploma in National Defence Audit. He is currently pursuing a PhD in International Health at the Portuguese Institute of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Universidade Nova de Lisboa.

With over 30 years of experience across government, academia, the private sector and intergovernmental organizations, he has led numerous sustainable development initiatives in Portuguese-speaking African countries, working with partners such as the European Commission, UNDP and the World Bank. Since 2007, he has served as Director for Cooperation at the Community of Portuguese Speaking.
