Cristobal Ridao-Cano is the Manager of the Social Protection and Labor department for the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan and Pakistan at the World Bank. He is also the lead author of the report Built to Include: Reimagining Social Protection in the Middle East and North Africa. Cristobal has been working on social protection systems and labor markets for over twenty-three years across countries in South Asia, Middle East and North Africa, East Asia and Pacific, Europe and Central Asia and Latin America and the Caribbean. He is also the author of numerous articles and reports, including Growing United: Upgrading Europe’s Convergence Machine and the World Development Report 2007: Development and the Next Generation. Cristobal holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Colorado Boulder.
