Dr Afrooz Kaviani Johnson is a Child Protection Specialist for UNICEF’s Global Programme Division. She manages global partnerships and policy advocacy from UNICEF Headquarters and supports UNICEF country teams worldwide to enhance prevention and response to violence against children. Afrooz has spent over 15 years leading teams and initiatives aimed at promoting children’s rights and combatting child abuse and exploitation.

Earlier in her career, Afrooz worked as a Senior Investigator and Conciliator for the Australian Human Rights Commission, and as a lawyer in a corporate firm, as in-house counsel, and in the community legal sector.

She holds a PhD, Juris Doctor and Master of Social Science.
