Douglas Opio

Since 2017, Douglas Opio has served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Federation of Uganda Employers (FUE). During his tenure, he has successfully led a transformative journey resulting in increased membership retention, positive member growth, significant financial improvement, and strengthened partnerships with both government and international stakeholders.

As a seasoned social and economic policy expert, Douglas is passionate about driving national growth with a focus on fostering decent employment opportunities. His fifteen-plus years of experience as an HR professional has equipped him with the skills to optimize human capital deployment, enabling organizations to achieve their strategic goals.

Douglas is a member of the ILO Governing Body and serves on several private and public boards. He also co-chairs the TVET policy implementation working group and sits on the BEAR III project Advisory Board. To promote best practices in human resources and business management, he regularly contributes articles to The New Vision, a leading national daily newspaper.
