Alexandre Huynh
FAO representative in Morocco
Huynh has over 20 years of experience in international development with the FAO and other organisations, and 10 years in the private sector.
He began his career in Vietnam in 1993 as Deputy Editor-in-Chief of a print publication on cooperation and investment, in a joint venture with the Vietnamese government. He then worked for Hachette/Filipacchi Press Asia, before becoming an independent entrepreneur based in Hanoi, and then moving into the private sector in France in 2000.
From 2003 to 2009, Mr Huynh held several positions in Burundi. First as Head of Mission for the NGO Solidarités International, then as Humanitarian Affairs Officer with OCHA. He joined FAO as Deputy Emergency Operations Coordinator in 2005.
In 2009, he was appointed FAO Emergency and Rehabilitation Coordinator in Madagascar, also accredited to the Comoros, Mauritius and Seychelles. He served as FAO Representative ad interim in 2012 and 2013, then as Deputy Representative in 2014.
Mr Huynh was FAO Representative in Cambodia from 2016 to 2021, then in Mauritania from 2021 to 2025.
He was appointed FAO Representative in Morocco in February 2025.
Alexandre Huynh holds a bachelor’s degree in management from the University of Versailles/St Quentin, France, and a master’s degree in international law, with a specialisation in human security and development, from the Faculty of Law and Political Science at the University of Aix-Marseille, France.
