Federico Blanco Allais is a production engineer and development economist. Since 2006, he has worked as a researcher, statistician, and project coordinator at the ILO’s Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work Branch. He is currently Head of the Research and Evaluation Unit of ILO-FUNDAMENTALS and one of the core authors of the Global Estimates of Child Labour, published jointly by the ILO and UNICEF in June 2025. His main areas of expertise include the development of quantitative methods to assess the extent and characteristics of child labour and forced labour. He has led and contributed to global research on child labour in relation to gender, education, occupational injuries, economic shocks, violence against children, and refugee populations.
