6TH GLOBAL CONFERENCE ON THE ELIMINATION OF CHILD LABOUR

MARRAKECH 2026

The Government of the Kingdom of Morocco and the International Labour Organisation (ILO) are honoured to welcome you to the Sixth Global Conference on the Elimination of Child Labour.

The Conference will be held in Marrakech from 11 to 13 February 2026. It will bring together representatives of governments, employers’ and workers’ organisations from the 187 ILO member States, as well as representatives of civil society, regional and international organisations, the private sector and the academia.

This administrative note provides logistical and other practical information concerning the arrangements for this Conference. Further information will be communicated to all delegates via the Conference website

Date and venue

The Sixth Global Conference on the Elimination of Child Labour will be held from 11 to 13 February 2026 in Marrakech at the Palais des Congrès.

Format and agenda

The main agenda of the Conference will alternate between high-level sessions and technical discussions addressing the most relevant issues related to the elimination of child labour, as identified during regional consultations.

It will be complemented by interactive sessions, accessible by registration only, aimed at fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing and the presentation of effective solutions.

A space dedicated to innovation will showcase creative approaches that have a measurable impact on the elimination of child labour. Finally, side events will be organised to promote dialogue, partnerships and advocacy.

Languages

Simultaneous interpretation will be provided in four languages: English, Spanish, French and Arabic. A subtitling service will also be available.

Registration

We invite each delegate to register online by 20 January 2026, using the dedicated link provided in the letter of invitation.

Accreditation / Registration

After completing the registration form, each participant will receive a confirmation email from the conference organisers.

Badges can be collected from the Palais des Congrès (conference venue) from 9 February 2026.

Insurance

The host country and the ILO do not provide insurance coverage for participants and accept no responsibility for any medical services required before, during or after the meeting.

Participants are therefore responsible for taking out insurance valid for the entire duration of the Conference and for the period of travel before leaving for Morocco.

Visas

Participants in the Sixth Conference are invited to submit their visa applications to the Embassies and Consulates of the Kingdom of Morocco, accompanied by their letters of invitation.

Delegates from countries without Moroccan diplomatic representation may request visa confirmation letters at the airport from the organising committee.

Internal transport in Morocco

The organising team will arrange transfers in Morocco between the international airport, the Palais des Congrès and other hotels in Marrakech. Delegates are requested to send details of their international flights to and from Morocco to the following address: transport-6GC@emploi.gov.ma.

International transport: arrivals and departures

Each participant must organise their own international outbound and return travel to Morocco. Points of entry into Morocco can be Menara International Airport in Marrakech and Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca.

Delegates arriving at either of these two international airports will be met by the organising team and accompanied to shuttle buses that will take them to their hotels. Please note that the travel time between Casablanca International Airport and Marrakech is at least 3 hours by road, covering a distance of approximately 230 km.

Accommodation

In order to ensure that you are welcomed in the best possible conditions, a list of recommended hotels will be available on the website with preferential rates for conference participants :

Rooms are available at preferential rates until 13 February 2026. After this date, hotel rates will return to normal and will depend on availability.

You are therefore encouraged to confirm your reservation directly with the Hotel of your choice as soon as possible, and no later than 10 January 2026.

Marrakech enjoys a generally sunny and pleasant climate throughout the year. Winter temperatures remain comfortable during the day, with an average temperature in Marrakech of around 15°C (59°F) in February, and minimum and maximum temperatures ranging from 8°C (46°F) to 21°C (70°F).

  • Telephone and internet : 

To make calls from your mobile phone, don’t forget to activate the ‘International’ option with your telephone operator. The network coverage in Morocco is generally very good.

You can buy a Moroccan SIM card on arrival, and you will also find top-up cards in all kiosks.

All hotels in Morocco generally have a broadband connection, and many establishments offer free Wi-Fi: restaurants, cafés, airports, etc

Power sockets in Morocco are type C and E. The mains voltage is 220v.

  • Currency and banks : 

The official currency of Morocco is the Moroccan dirham, abbreviated MAD (Moroccan dirham). One US dollar is worth approximately MAD 10.

In Morocco, as in most countries around the world, you can pay by cash or credit card. When paying by credit card, the exchange rate applied is the rate for that day. Please note that cash withdrawals and payments with a foreign card may be subject to fees or commissions.
